waldkindergarten
How can we respond meaningfully to the growing demand for kindergarten spaces across Germany while offering places that are both practical and atmospheric? The answer lies in “kidmodu“ – modular wooden shelters designed specifically for nature and forest kindergartens. These compact buildings integrate effortlessly into woodland settings, providing a safe and nurturing base for children who learn and play outdoors. Each unit combines high pedagogical, ecological, and aesthetic standards, ensuring that spaces feel bright, open, and stimulating through carefully placed, large directional windows that frame views into nature.

creating sustainable learning spaces where density, simplicity, and nature coexist
How can modularity and spatial clarity create a sense of belonging for children in constantly changing natural environments? Each “kidmodu“ shelter is composed of flexible wooden modules that can be combined into ensembles according to site, programme, and pedagogical needs. The interior spaces are reduced to what is essential – light, protection, and warmth – allowing nature to remain the primary playground. By clustering multiple modules and integrating a dedicated sanitary unit, entire forest kindergarten sites can grow into small, self-sufficient villages that foster community and independence in equal measure.

How do material choices and craftsmanship shape a sustainable and enduring architecture for children? All materials are sourced from responsibly managed forests in the Black Forest region, emphasising local production and short supply chains. The solid-timber construction embodies both durability and warmth, while natural finishes and handcrafted details speak to the project’s ecological integrity. Through these choices, “kidmodu” becomes more than a building system – it is a statement of sustainable simplicity, where design, education, and ecology are inseparably connected.
